Becoming a Judge

Becoming a Gymnastics judge is a rewarding way to become involved and support gymnastics, as well as giving a good insight into the purpose and targets of the sport.

All gymnastics judges have to have appropriate level BG insurance, a current DBS check and in most instances a current Safeguarding Children certificate. They must also attend a judging course and pass a theory and practical exam. The judging qualification has to be renewed every 4 years.

If you are already involved with a gymnastics club and would like to become a judge for Yorkshire Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, the first step is to speak to the Head Coach or Club Manager of your club.

If you are not currently a judge and not involved with a club, then please contact the Regional Judging Course Organiser on the following email

If you are a qualified judge and would like to judge independently within Yorkshire, whether that is on an ongoing basis or just for a one-off competition, then please contact the Judging Coordinator by emailing

Details of up and coming judging courses will be found on our Courses and Clinics page under Development or alternatively by clicking here.
